Houseplant Appreciation Day Kick-Off
As Houseplant Appreciation Day (January 10) approaches I’ve been noticing different ways people are celebrating this day on social media. I absolutely love connecting on social media with other plant lovers! They tweet pictures and show off their prized plants on Facebook like they are their babies–nothing wrong with that. One of the newest social media sensations is BLAB. What is BLAB? It is a live interview with up to four people and the watchers can ask questions and comment via the chat room on the side of the screen. Being able to interact live is amazing! A good friend and fellow plant enthusiast, Bren Haas has been “blabbing ” away with some really great people. Today in anticipation of National Houseplant Appreciation Day, she interviewed Justin Hancock, from Costa Farms. You can watch that Blab below.

Justin mentioned a few houseplants he likes and one that is coming out soon from Costa Farms. I definitely will be checking out the ‘Jungle Queen’ Anthurium as soon as it hits the market. Do you grow houseplants and if so, what is your favorite? One of my favorites that Justin mentioned as a low light plant, is the Sansevieria, or snake plant. Another one he mentioned and Bren held up is the Aglaonema, or Chinese Evergreen. This plant has come a long way from the common green plant we remember. The colors are amazing and they are so easy to grow. No matter which houseplant you have, remember to love it and appreciate it for all the hard work it is doing cleaning the air around you and improving your mood, which they certainly do.
